Mr Snaidero has thrown his hat in the ring to be considered as mayor of the city of Griffith in the upcoming local government elections. With him on his ticket are ex-developer Eddie Martin and former shire management employee and businessman Andy Armstrong along, with one other.
“Our group is called ‘Stand up for Griffith’,” Mr Snaidero said.
“We feel there needs to be a new generation of councillors and in that new generation there will be new vision. I’m not saying the old councillors have not done their job, I’m saying it’s time another generation comes in we need a freshening up.”
Mr Snaidero will be throwing his weight behind the Griffith Business Chamber’s nine goals for Griffith to grow and prosper. The objectives focus on maximising opportunities with water, education, retirement potential and decentralisation as well as making health, housing, regional branding and rejuvenation a priority.
“I will be the first one to say yes I am on board,” he said. “ These goals are achievable – they are tangible outcomes and I believe any fair dinkum councillor should sign up to support that document.
“The view is to unlock the potential of Griffith, there is so much potential here and we are being held back.
“We need a new generation to get industry going again, to have a different mindset and cut red tape. Any business is always going through a process of reinventing itself – now council needs to reinvent itself as far as the way it does things. My style of council, if I’m successful, is a very flat management style where each councillor takes on a portfolio and they are responsible for that portfolio. It’s all about empowering the councillors to get in and be part of the process. Council has to be a group of 12 working for one goal the betterment of the city. I’m motivated by the fact I’ve had many deals come to me where I’m second, well I’m standing alone with no deals. I’m totally independent, what you vote for is what you get. If you want the same, vote the same”
