About 1.30pm on Wednesday, July 13 a 49-year-old man was crossing Banna Avenue on the marked pedestrian crossing about 150 metres east of Wayeela Street.
While on the pedestrian crossing the man was struck by a small to medium size white AWD wagon/SUV style vehicle.
The vehicle was being driven by a female with dark hair.
The white wagon failed to stop.
After the crash, the man stumbled and walked to the edge of the footpath where he sat in the gutter for a short time.
The man reported the crash to police and later sought medical assistance for a hip injury.
Police believe there may have been a number of witnesses in the area at the time.
They are appealing for information and have urged the driver to contact Griffith Police Station on 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
