A MAN has been charged over the April road death of popular Hay teenager Jess Murphy.

The 18-year-old died near her home town on April 12 after a B-double collided with Miss Murphy’s Toyota Hiace van at the intersection of the Sturt Highway and Maude Road.
Detectives on Friday charged a 48-year-old truck driver from Red Cliffs in Victoria with dangerous driving causing death.
He was bailed to appear before Hay Local Court on August 15.
Miss Murphy has been remembered as a loving, compassionate teen, who touched the lives of all she knew.
She graduated from St Francis College, Leeton last year after completing year 12 and was a valued member of the Leeton Phantoms Rugby Union women’s team.
She was farewelled at a massive funeral in Hay.
