The Agnes Fawcett Trophy 4BBB competition was held last Wednesday, attracting a field of 29 ladies. The winners, on 43 points, were Sue Peters and Dulcie Knight. Runners-up were Merle Cudmore and Sue Tyrrell on 42 points. The encouragement award went to Kath Gullifer and Robyn Barrington. Rose Alpen was nearest the pin and there were 14 ball winners with a score of 38 on a count back required.

Saturday’s competition was a stroke event and the qualifying round for the Graded Matchplay. There were two divisions, with the winner of Division 1 Liz Graham carding a score of 86 (76 net), from Jenny Thomas, runner-up with a score of 98 (77 net). The Division 2 winner was Shirley Painting (75 net) and runner-up was Dulcie Knight with a net score of 77 net. The only nearest the pin went to Robyn Kefford in Division 2. There were nine ball winners needing a score of 84 on a count back.
Griffith entered two teams in the Jerilderie tournament on Friday. The wet weather obviously suited Dulcie Knight, who carded the best score of the day to win C Grade with a score of 36 points.
Saturday’s competition will be a Stableford and the second round of the Graded Matchplay, sponsored by Moreens. Captains on the day will be Yvonne Couper and Shirley Carter.
The Griffith Women’s City Open Tournament, sponsored by Harvey Norman, will be held on Sunday, May 15 – entries can be entered in the sheet in the clubhouse.
