The Cycling Australia Aboriginal Bicycle Safety Program was a government-funded initiative designed to teach kids about bicycle maintenance, safety checks and safe riding skills.
Damien Enderby from Bike and Fitness was joined by his wife Jenny and mechanic Dan Beresford to run the workshop.
“The main idea is to make kids safer,” Mr Enderby said.
“If we can help save one life it’s worth it.”
Mr Beresford inspected bikes to check brake cables and pads, tyre tread and tubes, handle bar grips and pedals.
Kids were also provided a new helmet each that was properly fitted to them.
“It’s not just the law, it’s a safety issue too,” Mr Enderby said.
