With the fiery engine working overtime it’s now prepared to take passengers as close as Yenda to the day trip to Junee on Monday.
It was truly a sight to see (and hear) as the train made the Griffith trek for the first time in more than 20 years.
It wasn’t just the children that were impressed either.
“You don’t get to travel by steam train every day,” remarked economic development and tourism manager Greg Lawrence.
“Anyone can come by bus or car but this is something a little bit different.”
It seemed the people of Griffith agreed.
More than 1000 tickets were sold to ride the black behemoth.
If you didn’t get a ticket this time around or just want one more ride, never fear.
The steam train is coming back in August to help celebrate Griffith’s birthday.
Junee day trip Adults $80, Children $60 (Children under 5 free on all services but they do not hold a reserved seat) .
