YSC looked to dominate early, but Leeton – still vying for fourth place – weren’t about to roll over and hand them the three points.
It took some good ball movement to get YSC going as Ryan Spencer broke his longest goal-scoring drought of the season (two games) to put his team on the board first.
Coming out of half-time 1-0 up, YSC tried to keep the pressure on and push Leeton out of the game.
YSC’s grip on the three points tightened when Darren Bailey continued his run of good form to score his team’s second goal of the game and his fourth in three matches.
Leeton managed to peg one back with three minutes to go through Benjamin Nardi, but that was all they could manage.
YSC held on to secure the three points, the result leaving Leeton four points out of fourth place.
YSC coach Anthony Martinello said his team would continue to work hard at training as they looked towards the finals.
“It wasn’t perfect out there, but we got the result, which is what matters,” Martinello said.
“Now we have to train hard and focus on next week.”
