During a nine-day operation in Wagga Wagga which ended on Wednesday, more than 500 drivers were pulled over and swabbed for a range of drugs, including marijuana, ice, ecstasy and cocaine. Those that tested positive were taken to a special drug bus and given a more thorough test. Marijuana and amphetamines were most common.
Wagga Local Area Command’s Superintendent Bob Noble said while drivers were not “profiled”, police targeted areas based on drug intelligence, traffic complaints and accident hotspots.
