Before the Sydney Symphony Orchestra left Griffith they gave some budding musicians a few musical tips.

They worked with musicians both young and old on Saturday. Coordinator of the Griffith city band’s school band program, Toni Howard, described it as a “resounding success.”
“People came from Leeton, Hillston, Wagga, one girl even drove from Sydney for the event,” she said.
“More experienced players were invited to do a band workshop with the conductor on stage so the SSO sat in with the local musicians to work with them.”
Some musicians were even lucky enough to get specific instrument lessons with a member of the orchestra.
“There were breakaway rooms where each instrument group got an SSO member to teach them a few things about their instrument.
“Flutes in one room, saxophones in another, it was great to see all 40 children really get involved.”
