Griffith Deputy Mayor Doug Curran was at council chambers to take the pledge and hoped that it will serve as a reminder to people.
“When we leave in the morning to go to work or on holidays or something we want to make sure we come home,” he said.
“Something like this just says to the community, take that extra ten minutes in a day, you can save not only your own life but the lives of your family and the lives of innocent other people.
“It's just a reminder to say that this is out there.”
Overall he hoped that people simply learned from it.
“It's a bit of a novel way with blow up cars and everyone signing it, but hopefully people take away from it that it is really important.”
