Police believe the thieves are looking for cash or items that could be easily exchanged.

Ferraro Foods had its refrigerated van stolen on Tuesday night and Anthony  Ferraro was not happy.

“My back door and Dobija’s back door are pretty much next to each other, they got into theirs and knocked their stuff off and used our van to cart it away as well as their ute,” Mr Ferraro said.

The van was later found on Lakes road in Tharbogang.

“One of my delivery driver’s brothers saw it and called and said there was a burnt out van on the side of the road, I’m pretty much the only one in town who has a refrigerated van like that.”

Mr Ferraro said he would not be able to find another van for the same price.

Masters of Hair was also broken into on Tuesday night and thieves stole cash and GHD hair straighteners.

Masters of Hair owner Simone Flanagan said they had never been broken into before.

“They broke into the front of the shop and came in and ransacked the cupboards and stole all my GHD stock,” Ms Flanagan said.

Ms Flanagan said nearly $2500 worth of stock was stolen.

“In seven years of owning the salon we’ve never had any problems.

“Whoever broke in knew what they were doing and knew what they were after, they didn’t do any damage to other property, we were very lucky.” Thieves were looking for quick cash, according to Ms Flanagan, who said they knew what items would sell around town.

“I’ve made sure a lot of places have the serial numbers of the stock so if anything tries to be sold they’ll be able to contact police straight away.”

Kim Traynor from Griffith police said if anyone was offered cheap items such as GHD hair straighteners, to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

“We’ve had an unusal trend of break-in and steal incidents in the Griffith area and wider Griffith area targeting business premises,” Inspector Traynor said.

The break-ins started around 11 April and a number of premises in the Griffith CBD and in the East Griffith area and one at Yoogali were subject to break and enters at that time.

Police said they are conducting inquiries to identify the people responsible.

“If community see anything suspicious contact police immediately; either on 000 if they see a break-in in progress, or Griffith Police Station on 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 if they have any information in relation to the break and enters.”
