This year the annual festival of food and culture returns closer to its spiritual home to be staged in Memorial Park on Sunday from 10am to 6.30pm.
With a concern about shutting down Banna Avenue and restricting access to the retail centre, but a desire by the organising committee and the community to bring the one-day festival back to the heart of the city, Memorial Park should prove to be the ideal compromise in 2015.
Under the banner of an extended long-weekend theme of Griffith Easter Party, one look at the official program shows La Festa is set to become the event of the year.
Steggles La Festa 2015 will feature a fabulous program of live music and entertainment with headline act Joe Camilleri and The Black Sorrows.
Check out the fantastic line up of talent in the support acts, including Jelly Shots, the Countdown Tribute Show, Jiakomo Thief and Kyle Jones.
There will be two stages of live music with local and visiting musicians, including the Avanti Rotary Community Stage, featuring multicultural dancing, kids’ entertainment by The Party Pirates and much more.
Also a features is the flag parade that showcases the multicultural heritage of Griffith and Italian cooking demonstrations.
Regional produce, local wine and children's activities make this a great family day.
Satisfy your hunger and wander around the gourmet food stalls and market stalls in the La Festa Food Alley.
Enjoy Italian home cooking at its finest with demonstrations of delicious southern Italian cooking in The Gourmet Cucina, with stalls such as Pasta Carne (homemade pasta sauce), Pana da Nanna Lisa (Nanna Lisa's bread), Crocchè da Nonna Marianna (Nonna Marianna's croquette) and Pittei i hiuri di cucuzzeia (zucchini flower fritters).
Have you thought about nominating yourself for the La Festa chilli eating or pie eating contests, courtesy of local gourmet producers "The Local Hot Sauce" and Bertoldo's Bakery Griffith?
If the food doesn’t get your tastebuds working, try boutique wine from some of the region's best producers in the Calabria Family Wines Marquee, or enjoy the XXXX Gold Beer Garden.
Tony Joes Amusements will have fun for the whole family on Railway Street, from the Cha Cha, giant slide and jumping castles, to sideshow alley and more.
The festival won’t stop at 6.30pm when there will be plenty of time to dine out at one of Griffith's restaurants or eateries to finish off the day in style.
Entry to La Festa 2015 in Memorial Park will be $15 for adults $5 for children (8-17 years) and under seven free. Family passes for two adults and unlimited children are $35.
