The 10-year-old recently returned from the Arnold Classic in Melbourne with a bronze medal after competing in the event's Kyokushin Karate tournament.
Lou’s trainer, Frank Cirillo of RMA and Total Fitness, said the youngster did well.
“It was a really big division, so to get through to third was massive,” he said. “It’s a non-contact division, but it’s really fast and furious to watch.”
Also fighting from Cirillo’s gym were Abbi Enness and Nick Taprell. Both went out early after facing quality opponents, but Cirillo said Enness received an unexpected surprise when she ran into the Terminator himself – Arnold Schwarzenegger.
“She got a hug and a photo opportunity,” he said. “Not many people got a chance to do that with all the security he had with him.”
Just as exciting was Cirillo’s chance to referee the event’s main competition mat.
“It was streamed live, and there was a lot of stress to get everything right,” Cirillo said. “It was a big thing to be a part of.”
