The playground used to have a plastic tunnel that children could crawl through and connected the whole playground together.
Vandals lit the tube on fire which forced council to remove the tube and board up each end, disconnecting one side of the gym from the other.
This is where Mrs Beaton’s problem lies - on one side are a set of steps and on the other is a slide, the main draw card of the playground.
The easiest way to access the slide used to be by climbing up the steps and then crawling through the plastic tunnel.
There are now two possible ways to get to the slide.
One is to climb across a criss crossed chain and the other is climbing through a spiralled metal pole.
Mrs Beaton said it was too dangerous for kids agreed three and under.
“The idea of a park is for two year olds and up to play, exercise and stuff like that,” Mrs Beaton said.
“The little toddlers enjoy this park but some time ago some nice little vandals came and burnt them.
“It’s dangerous. There's the steps but they have no connection to the children's slide.
“I rang council and they sent someone last week to come out. He looked at it and said they can’t do anything because the company that built this one had gone bust.
“I said can't we just put a little ladder, a step there for the little toddlers to get up to the slide. He said no, because it’s going to be an engineer's nightmare to put a step there.
“The councilman said if they're that young they should be supervised at all times but I can't get up there, a pregnant woman couldn't get up there.
“If you're out here in the evening you see so many young families trying to enjoy the park.
“Council were nice enough to put in a swing set here, so surely they could put in a step so little ones can access the slide safely.”
Griffith City Council was contacted for comment but a response was not received before deadline.
