A NEW CAR or holiday would be nice, but Yenda Jets captain Shaun Stubbs wouldn't mind if Santa delivered an early Christmas present in the form of a win against Exies.
Last summer's premiership combatants have struggled with consistency in the opening seven rounds but find themselves in the top four before the holiday break.
Stubbs classed the Jets' performances as good, not great, in the first half of the season.
"Everyone's sort of chipping in, which is pleasing," he said.
"I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more with the bat, though.
"We've got a pretty good bowling attack, so wickets don't faze us.
"It's more our batting.
"It's been pretty up and down."
But when the Jets do fire with the willow, Stubbs knows few teams can contain them.
Last week they were 1-86 against Diggers before rain halted play.
"We like to get our runs quick and put the other team on the back foot," Stubbs said.
"We're one of the deadlier sides in the comp (with the bat), if you want to put it like that."
Exies also boast plenty of batting talent, but the reigning premiers misfired at the crease against Coro the previous round.
Chasing 217, Exies faltered to be all out for 153.
Stubbs, however, warned Exies' loss would only make them more dangerous in tomorrow's clash at Exies No.2 Oval.
"They'll be wanting to bounce back," he said.
"Every team wants to get a win in this last game."
