YENDA cricket captain Shaun Stubbs says the Jets won't underestimate the winless Diggers in their Griffith District Cricket Association two-day match at Wade Park tomorrow.
The Jets will start strong favourites for the clash following Diggers' outright loss to Hanwood last week.
Stubbs, however, warned his players not to expect an easy time out in the middle.
"They're not a bad side at all," Stubbs said of Diggers.
"They're always pretty competitive on the field.
"The scoreboard doesn't always show how competitive they are."
But Stubbs acknowledged the Jets would be hard to beat if they played to their potential.
Paceman Brett Hazelman and opener Andrew Potter will be missing tomorrow, but the rest of the Yenda side that defeated Coro the previous week is available.
With the Jets sitting third on the ladder nearly halfway through the season, Stubbs said it was important his side kept building momentum.
"Another win would be good," he said.
"In these two-dayers, the bonus points can end up being really important (for getting a top-four spot).
"The competition's really close, but that doesn't surprise me."
Diggers are virtually no hope of qualifying for the finals following their poor start to the season, but captain Scott Smith wants his side to remain competitive.
He saw promising signs in last week's loss to Hanwood when Diggers bounced back from an embarrassing first innings total of 25 to post 168 in their second dig.
"The boys dug in and had a go," Smith said.
"I was happy with the result, even though we got out-righted.
"We gave ourselves a chance.
"I thought if we could make them bat again we could get a bit of pride back, and that's what we ended up doing."
But Smith said pride alone wouldn't be enough to upset Yenda.
"It's been a couple of years since we've won at Yenda," he said.
"We'll be up against it, but we'll turn up and give it our best again."
