Charles Sturt University (CSU) Wagga student Emma Altin, who is studying a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science, and Racheal Weigand, studying a Bachelor of Nursing, have received scholarships for $10,000 each.
The Casella Family Brands Health Science Scholarships are given out annually to support young people to help realise their dreams.
Emma said the funds would make a huge difference.
“It will help me with text books and accommodation,” she said.
“I do plan to come back to Griffith and work as a radiographer when I’m finished my degree. I’d really like to thank Casella for this.”
Twenty-year-old Rachael was also extremely grateful to Casella’s for the help given to her.
“It will help me so much with my finances so I can focus on my studies,” she said.
“It is fantastic not to have to worry so much, it takes a lot of pressure off.”
Casella Family Brands human resources Sue Molyneaux said the annual scholarships were about locals supporting locals.
“John Casella wants people not to be financially disadvantaged while they are studying,” she said.
“Hopefully they will come back to Griffith and work here when they finish.
“These scholarships are available and open to everybody. There is set criteria such as they must be studying certain degrees at CSU Wagga.
“I encourage any students to look at what is available and apply.”
Casella Family Brands also offer wine travel scholarships and handed out three of those this year.
