Before a new collection was launched on Monday, March 31, there was a lack of adult comic books at the library.
There are now close to 90 titles in the new comic book collection, which features well-known writers Grant Morrison and J Michael Straczynski and comic book publishers Marvel, DC, Vertigo and Image Comics.
"We are delighted to offer the comic book collection as it broadens the types of materials available to library users and meets the high interest in this genre," Griffith City Library manager Pam Young said.
"We will continue to add more titles in the near future so the collection can become a substantial one for comic book fans."
Avid comic fan and the library's sometimes Spiderman Michael Lee said it was "super" news for Griffith.
"We've had a few recent donations so the collection is now close to 90," he said.
"Anyone interested in the films would love them. I'm a big fan of comic books."
The library has also added a new eMagazine collection, Zinio, to the eBooks and eAudio services already provided to users.
Zinio offers the latest issues of popular eMagazines, free for all library users.
More than 100 magazines are available including Australian, British and American titles. Popular magazines include Men's Fitness, Men's Health, Marie Claire, Vogue, Peppermint, Taste.com.au, Australian Country, and O, The Oprah Magazine.
"One of the great aspects of our online magazine collection is concurrent lending - many people can check out the same magazine at one time and there are no waiting lists," Mrs Young said.
"You might even find titles you weren't aware existed and we also offer an extensive archive of magazines for those who have missed past issues."
