More than 300 people from Griffith’s Muslim community congregated at Lake Wyangan to celebrate the Farsi new year.
Organiser Mohammad Ghaffari said the special day was celebrated at this time each year and this year, they were welcoming in the year 1393. Griffith’s Afghani, Iranian, Iraqi and Turkish families all gathered at the lake for lunch, singing and dancing.
The day is celebrated each year in Griffith with plenty of food, laughter and good times.
Mr Ghaffari said a good day was had by all.
“There was food, lots of food,” he said.
“After lunch we had singing, dancing and more.”
