ATHLETICS is on the rise on Griffith with the local Little Athletics club sending its largest team ever to the regional championships in Wagga last month.
An amazing 32 athletes from Griffith attended the carnival on February 16 and 17, and came away with a swag of medals and many new personal best performances.
The competition was tough with competitors coming from clubs as far and wide as Hay, Leeton, Wagga, Narrandera, West Wyalong, Tumut, Northern Illawarra, Wollongong and Albion Park, along with many others.
Athletes who won gold or silver medals immediately qualified for the Little Athletics State Championships at Homebush, Sydney at the end of March, while the next best eight across the state also qualify.
A record 13 athletes from Griffith have qualified to attend the state titles and will compete across 20 different events in what will be a fantastic experience for all involved.
