Fire and Rescue NSW were called at 3.45am and ten minutes later there were six Yenda and seven Griffith Station firefighters on the scene.
The flames had consumed the roof and much of the building, but after 30 minutes firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze.
Griffith Fire and Rescue Station 311 captain Chris Evans said he was proud of his team's efforts.
"All of my members worked hard and did a really great job in putting out the fire," Mr Evans said.
"This is a reminder of how important it is to have working smoke alarms, whether or not the premises is occupied."
