Her hard work and dedication has paid off. This past week Mrs Inglis was honoured in NSW State Parliament by Member for Murray Austin Evans as Murray Local Woman of the Year. 

Mrs Inglis said she was “blown away” when she was approached about the honour. 

“You do what you do because you love it, you love helping people and you love your community. You never expect to be recognised or singled out,” she said. 

Mr Evans paid tribute to her hard work across many community groups, including Lions Club of Australia, Country Women’s Assocation and as chair of the Cypress View Lodge Auxilary Committee.

“It is my pleasure to congratulate Sue Inglis on being named the Murray Local Woman of the Year,” she said. 

“Sue is a very active member of the Coleambally community.”

She has also volunteered to work with kids with special needs through Lions, acted as a driver for community transport and led the local garden club

Mrs Inglis says she learned the importance of community participation from her father. 

“My parents have always been community-minded. My Dad was a mayor in South Australia for 21 years,” she said. 

“It really instilled in me that you need to be part of the community and contribute to it.”

Mrs Inglis was the Murrumbidgee Shire Council Citizen of the Year in 2015. 

She says the love of her community makes it all worthwhile. 

“It’s such a friendly community. I love living here and I love how kind everyone in the area is,” she said.
