While Yenda, Tullibigeal Lake Cargelligo and hosts West Wyalong were able to get through day one with good victories to start their preparation for the 2018 season.
West Wyalong, progressed through to the second night with a 28-0 thrashing of Cobar while TLU were able to see off Group 9 neighbours Temora 4-0 and Yenda were able to see off Nowra-Bomaderry 11-4.
Unfortunately, it came unstuck for the sides when it came to the quarterfinals with all three sides tasting defeat.
While Yenda were able to score first through Johnny Lolohea to give the Blueheelers a 6-0 lead, Young was able to fight back and thanks to two second-half tries to Lachie Jackson the Group 9 side were able to take the win.
West Wyalong fell to eventual runners-up Oberon after two first-half tries saw the hosts trailing 12-0 at the break. Derren Clayton gave the Mallee Men a chance late in the game. However, they would eventually fall 12-6.
The final hope of Group 20 in TLU came unstuck against eventual champions Shellharbour. The Sharks hit the scoreboard first through Brent Pike and lead 6-0 at the break. Shellharbour scored two quick tries in the second half to come away with a 12-6 win.
Meanwhile, a double from Yenda’s Ua Ravu saw the Blueheelers see off Nowra giving them a 12-0 before they went on the finish second after falling to Harden 4-0 in the final.
