The grass fire ended up burning an area of approximately 10 metres by 4 metres, but was extinguished without incident at around 8.30pm.
Captain of the Griffith Fire and Rescue Kevin Roth said it’s always hard to determine the cause of grass fires, however asks residents to be mindful of cigarette butts.
“We advise people to make sure they extinguish their cigarette butts properly, as they can be a common cause of grass fires like this,” Captain Roth said.

In other news, at around 11.30pm on Thursday a hairdressing salon in East Griffith was broken into, with damage done to the building.
The salon on Probert Avenue had a window smashed in.
Police confirm a 61-year-old female is assisting them with inquiries into the matter.
Anyone who witnessed the incident are asked by police to come forward.
