Four new units were replaced across the theatre’s dressing rooms.
Griffith Regional Theatre manager Raina Savage said the air conditioning hadn’t been replaced since the rooms were built.
“What was in there was unfit for purpose. It was a massive bonus to get the funding an install the aircon before the summer hit,” she said.
Griffith City Council contributed $6000 for the project, with another $6000 matched by the Federal Government.

The air-conditioning was installed in mid-November, right before the end of year rush.
Ms Savage says they have already made a world of difference.
“We’ve had really positive feedback from both school groups and dance groups. They’re the local groups who use the dressing rooms the most,” she said.
Thousands of kids spill through the change rooms over summer for end-of-year recitals and productions.
According to Ms Savage, packed dressing rooms and limited cooling capabilities have presented issues in the past.
“There’s been a real health risk in the past in the past with kids being unwell because of overheating,” she said.
“There were thousands of local kids who have been able to benefit. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback.”
She said the new air-conditioning is just the beginning.
“Our next project is to try and get funding to have the dressing rooms completely overhauled and upgraded. We’re also looking at similar things across the general facilities,” she said.
“It’s fantastic, but there’s more to be done and we’re on the case.”
