Griffith Sporting Clays recently staged a successful 5-Stand State Selection shoot at their sporting clays range set in bushland at the Dave Wallace Range. The selection shoot is one of several in NSW that qualifies sporting clay shooters for selection in the NSW 5-Stand Team. Shooting from five cages or stands, shooters are faced with clay targets coming from different directions and at different speeds that are designed to simulate various field targets. The shoot comprised 100 targets and was shot over two quite different layouts that provided an excellent variety of targets.

There was keen competition amongst many of the shooters who attended from Hay, Forbes, Albury, Narrandera, Finley and around the Griffith District. Selection points gained will be added to points from the NSW 5-Stand State Titles that will be held at Hay on 17/18 March where the NSW Team will be announced.
Luckily the shoot day had a moderate January temperature with clear skies making the targets easy to see as they appeared out of the bush. A blustery wind across the hill made the targets more challenging for everyone. Naradhan shooter Doug Osborne demonstrated he could best handle the windy targets by winning the High Gun with a score of 90/100 targets. Other Grade winners were:
AA Grade: Darren Macartney 89, Frank Tagliapietra 86, Greg Allen 84 A Grade: Michael Elmes 86, Flavio Zanotto 78, Michael Kruger-Davis 76 B Grade: Chase Staltare 74, Angello Cirillo 65, Wally Pilisio 63, C Grade: Brendon Adams 48, Veterans: Alec Ceccato 79, Lance Brissenden 76, Jeff Paggett 72
