The New Year is already off to a great start for one Hillston family. Baby Rani and Suresh Kumar welcomed their daughter into the world at 5:57am on January 1.

She is the first child to be born at Griffith Base Hospital in 2018.
The beautiful little girl is yet to be named, but eagerly awaited by her older brother.
“He’s very excited to have a younger sibling … He’s been telling everyone the big news. He’s looking forward to going back to school and telling his friends.”
She weighed in at around 2.54 kilograms at birth.
Mrs Kumar said in accordance with their Hindu tradition, her parents will be given different letters based on the child’s date and time of birth.
The parents will then choose a name beginning with one of those letters.
She is also the first member of her family to be born an Australian citizen. Her parents and brother are permanent residents hoping to apply for citizenship later this year.
