A generous act proved to be a critical mistake for a Griffith man, who was hit over the head and robbed while inspecting a man lying on the road.

The gentleman was driving along Griffin Avenue last night at around 12.45am, when he came across a body lying on the road.
He stopped and got out of his car to make sure the man was alright.
He was then hit over the back of the head by another male, and was robbed of his wallet with an amount of cash inside.
He was not seriously harmed in the attack.
The two offenders are described as wearing all black clothing, standing around six feet tall.
