This week Griffith Post School Options students hand-made pizzas to learn about local businesses and help their families prepare for the festive season.
The students eagerly entered the preparation room with an infectious energy and a keen interest to learn about the food industry.
Throughout the workshop the students sneaked in a few taste tests of the ingredients and were happy to enjoy some more pizza for afternoon tea.
Learning Assistant, Brooke Wells, says the students were a part of the school’s Living Skills group giving them an understanding of money and food preparation in businesses.
“Being able to prepare their own meals and understand everything that goes into it helps them appreciate everything their parents do for them,” Ms Wells said.
The culinary experience was provided by Josie’s Pizza and Pasta who’s co-owner, Pat Sergi, has been a consistent support and fundraiser for the school for many years.
Mr Sergi helped organize the class at short notice and generously provided the materials for the students to take home their mater pieces.
Student, Sophie, says her favorite part of the day will be eating the pizza.
“I’m going to share it with my Mum and Dad.”
