The annual Festival of Gardens and Real Juice Citrus Sculptures brings thousands of people to the region and there are great opportunities for Griffith residents to be part of the action.
The Working Group has been hard at work behind the scenes to create this new festival, adding events and activities to the schedule to make October in Griffith bigger and better than ever.
Chair of the Festival of Gardens Working Group Councillor Rina Mercuri would like to encourage businesses and community groups to get involved with the Real Juice Company Citrus Sculptures.
“There is still time to register your sculpture – last year we had over 60 sculptures created, using more than 100,000 oranges and more than 700 people involved,” Cr Mercuri said.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a massive community event while showcasing your business or community group. The construction (to be held October 8) is a great way to get your group or employees together for a fun filled morning while adding your own flair to one of the most unique exhibitions in Australia.
“If you don’t have a sculpture to enter, you can still take part and put your building skills to good use by volunteering your time to help out other groups with their sculptures – just come along on Sunday 8 October – remember, many hands make light work!” she said.

The annual Festival of Gardens launch party, which this year is beyond Bank Griffith Spring Fest Launch Party, will be held on Friday October 13.
According to Griffith City Council’s Event Coordinator, Karly Sivewright, the party this year will be taken up a notch.
“Each year this is one of the most popular events, attended by thousands of people both locally and those visiting the region,” said Mrs Sivewright.
“To extend on what is already a great event, we have added additional local food stalls, kids activities, live music, wine tasting, and cooking and gardening demonstrations with Festival Ambassadors Phil Dudman and Julie Ray from Kitchen2Garden.”
“We will also be closing off Banna Avenue to westbound traffic to ensure attendees can explore the sculptures and enjoy the event safely,” she added.
Griffith Spring Fest not only includes the traditional Festival of Gardens and Real Juice Citrus Sculptures, but now features a Spring Market to be held on Sunday October 15.
“We wanted to really showcase what is great about Griffith while adding extra events to the October calendar. The Spring Market will be held at the recently renovated Woodside Hall at Griffith Showgrounds and will be a fantastic day for people to explore all things Spring,” Cr Mercuri said.
“If you would like to participate by becoming a stall holder, you can register at Griffith Visitor Information Centre or by calling 6962 8400 – the entry fee is a $10 donation which will go directly to local charity, Griffith Carevan.”
If you are interested in becoming a food vendor, please contact Mrs Sivewright on 6962 8100 or email Karly.Sivewright@griffith.nsw.gov.au
