Griffith Community Centre Inc Coordinator Barbara Penninga said the funding allowed the organisation to meet the increasing demand for support in the local community with a community service worker.
“More and more, migrants are relocating to enjoy Griffith’s wonderful multicultural community which is only becoming more culturally diverse,” said Ms Penninga.
“The community worker will offer support for our migrant and refugee clients, assistance across immigration, legal and family support free of charge.”
Minister for Multiculturalism Ray Williams said the initiative was an outstanding example of the 50 innovative projects that recently received more than $300,000 in grant funding.
“This project illustrates the NSW government is investing in ground-breaking and grass-roots initiatives that will make a positive difference to people’s lives and the local community,” Mr Williams said.

“We are proud to support the Griffith Community Centre Inc, and outstanding local organisation doing vital work to help the most vulnerable in our community,” said Mr Piccoli.
“This funding will strengthen the multicultural fabric of our community and ensure increased support for the migrants and refugees living in the area.”
