Fashion pioneer and Ingham chicken heir Robby Ingham and his wife Sarah have sold their luxury Tamarama home for a suburb record of more than $13 million.

It is the second time a purchaser has agreed to buy the contemporary residence after a mystery expat banker was to buy it a year ago, but failed to complete the deal before it settled.
Set on dress circle Gaerloch Avenue overlooking the beach, the property was originally two semis when it was sold to the Inghams in 1994 for $810,000 by Tamarama Surf Life Saving Club life member Clive Owens.
A major rebuild by the fashion industry heavyweight and his former model wife Sarah followed in 2009 to create one residence behind the double garage with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, separate living areas, interiors by Briony Fitzgerald, a lap pool and a home gym.
In 2013, the Inghams paid $14.45 million for a block of six apartments that was also rebuilt into their forever home.
Having moved in early last year, the couple listed their former home on Gaerloch Avenue with Pauline Goodyer, of Goodyer Real Estate.
It was set to go under the hammer a year ago when a buyer snapped it up for a price rumoured to be close to $14 million, a suburb record, but was returned to the market soon after when the buyer reneged on the deal.
Goodyer declined to reveal the exact sale price, but confirmed the property has sold. Sources revealed a result at more than $13 million, and settlement will confirm by how much.
The property is one of only a handful set on the oceanfront reserve overlooking the beach, and is expected to set a suburb high for a single residential sale when it settles.
The previous high was in 2008 at $11 million when Built chairman Marco Rossi and his partner Stephanie Stokes bought a house on the other side of the beach. That house has since been demolished and the land is listed with $15 million hopes.
The Inghams were not the only high-profile Sydney home owners whose home sale has fallen through in recent years.
Cate Blanchett and Andrew Upton were forced to relist their historic Hunters Hill home Bulwarra last year after property developer Richard Mingfeng Gu defaulted on his $19.8 million purchase. It was sold again early this year for $18 million to Katrina Barter, the founder of The Grove Trust charity and wife of investment banker Chris Barter.
