So it's comforting to know that even women like Solange Knowles, who you might remember looked like a total chill goddess (with several nuptial costume changes including a killer jumpsuit and a cape) at her 2014 wedding to Alan Ferguson, had similar stress levels.

In a candid photo shared to her Instagram the singer revealed that, on the day of her wedding (a day that the world at large decrees you must look a beautiful perfect princess or ... else?), she broke out in hives.

Solange captioned the picture, taken on her wedding day, "My favourite (and most true to myself) selfie."

As Solange's mother, Tina Knowles, told Entertainment Tonight in 2014 of Solange's wedding day hives, "The seafood ??? she had a reaction to it. So her face broke out in welts. [Beyonc??] took her back to the hotel and gave her Benadryl and in two hours she showed up at the reception and did the dance with her son and just had a ball."

And here are a few great things about Solange's refreshingly honest selfie.

The first is that, despite the gargantuan pressure on brides to look 'perfect', you can, in fact, have something unexpected and even 'catastrophic' happen at your wedding and still have the greatest day of your life. Or maybe it's not the best day of your life, and that's really okay too. There will be other momentous days.

The second is that celebrities are just people too - people who react badly to seafood and dance wildly on their wedding day without a care in the world.

And finally that Solange, the definition of a chill bride, loves best a photo of herself where she's looking 'imperfect' but, and just as I was on my wedding day, so supremely and perfectly happy.

Because really, isn't it time we move on from the idea of a perfect bride and instead focus on what really matters - marrying the person you love most in front of your favourite people, a killer dance floor and, if you're really lucky, a wedding cape.
