If anyone knows weddings it's Kim Kardashian West after three trips up the aisle, so Shanina Shaik turned to her for some pearls of wisdom before her nuptials to DJ Ruckus.

"She said, 'It's all about finding that someone that gets your personality and that you can be weird with and have fun with and who also understands your work and what you love to do,'" Shaik told Fairfax Media at the David Jones Spring Summer 2017 launch this week.
"It's true because with Ruckus and I, we do travel so much and it does become hard, but we do what we love and when we come together it is a beautiful moment."
Kardashian West married rapper Kanye West in an O.T.T. affair in Florence, Italy, in 2014, complete with a 3.5-metre, lace Givenchy veil. And while there was no doubt it was a show-stopper, she warned Shaik about the practicalities of such a headwear.
"She told me to, 'Be careful with your veil and your choice of veil,'" Shaik said.
"Everyone wants a long veil but you might trip over the veil because of all of that material, so you have to learn how to hold the veil in certain way, almost away from you as you walk," Shaik said with her arms out in front of her.
"She taught me that. I was very grateful for that advice."
The laid-back Melbourne model is set to say "I do" to Miami-based Ruckus, real name Gregory Andrews, a cousin of singer Lenny Kravitz, "soon" in a "beautiful beachside" ceremony.
"It is going to be a dream. I'm very excited, I'm enjoying the planning process. I am not stressed at the moment, which is quite weird, my mum is telling me to knuckle down on the plans, but I'm just going with the flow. She is becoming a bit of a bridezilla, I am really calm," she laughed.
While she was keeping schtum on details and how many gowns she would sport, in true model style, there will be more than one and they'll be custom made.
"I feel like you have to do [multiple dresses] now, it is expected," she laughed.
The guest list was also being kept under wraps, and while she would confirm there would be a number of high-profile guests in attendance, Kimye won't be amongst them.
The former Victoria's Secret model said her swimwear strut alongside Ruckus on the David Jones runway this week that culminated in a kiss and a bum squeeze offered a glimpse into their relationship.
"We are happy and fun-loving, it's what we are all about," she said.
