On 8 August, 2MIA started broadcasting a recorded version of the previous night’s council meeting.
Council meetings – held on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month – will be broadcast on the Wednesday night the day after the meeting at 10pm from now on.
Normal programming will be scheduled for the odd weeks in which there are no council meetings.
2MIA president Dolf Murwood said “with live streaming not on the agenda anymore, we jumped at the chance”.
“There were a few technical issues last week with sound quality in some parts, but we expect the quality will continue to improve”.
The Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA), the country’s key radio regulator, had recommended 2MIA increase its spoken word content.
“his is a great fit for not only us but also anyone interested in what happens at council meetings. Council agreed to this and we believe it’s a great option,” Mr Murwood said.
2MIA also streams on the internet through the website 2miafm using the “tuneIn” app.
The station thanks the council staff for their support and assistance in getting the meeting to air.
2MIA is run entirely by volunteers, presenters are not paid, and donations keep the network afloat.
The station broadcasts live from the Griffith studios from 9am until between 10 and midnight most days.
If you’d like to donate or volunteer for the station, please get in touch via their revamped website https://www.2miafm.org.au/, where you can also tune in to the station digitally.
