The Festival always creates a lot of interest in the local community and indeed across Australia, and this year will be held at Pioneer Park.
Organiser Roy Catanzariti is especially looking forward to this year’s event.
“We have specialist judges this year, which is very exciting,” he said.
“Entrants look really good this year because it’s the ideal weather for it, being very cold, and I’ve tasted a couple and their are really good, better than last year.”
People come from as far away as Western Australia, South Australia, Victoria, as well as Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.
“The festival is completely sold out well in advance, and this year we have expanded once again to try to accommodate as many people as we can, and the expected crowd is upward of 1100 people.”
With over 60 per cent being made up of out of town visitors, the festival has become a “real economic windfall for Griffith businesses and tourism.”

The festival is now in its 18th year, and has gone from strength to strength, credited in part to the support from all sponsors, and many other contributors including local wineries, and the committee and volunteers.
The event will be hosted by John Mangos, with guest appearances by the My Kitchen Rules contestants ‘The Italianos’, and local radio hosts Claire and Dane.
The judging will be held on the Saturday August 26 at the Yoogali Club, between 11am and 2pm, with 24 celebrity and local judges (guided by salami aficionado’s) deciding which home-made salami is the best.
Entry is free, and every entrant goes into the draw for a mincer and vacuum packing machine, regardless of where they finish.
Prize money for the top three is also substantial, and organisers encourage all makers of home-made salami to compete.
Entry forms are available at MIA Casa, Leo Franco Motors or TLE Electrical and Data Suppliers Griffith, or call Roy Catanzariti on 0412 777 147.
Entries close Friday August 25, and need to be at least 1kg weight, enough for judging.
