MY JAM is “the place to be” Saturday 23 September 2017 from 11 am - 5 pm Neville Place, and as part of MY FEST (Murrumbidgee Youth Xtreme Arts Festival), will roll out the Riverina’s “hottest new bands and performers.”
Griffith’s youth are involved in all aspects of organising the festival - including finding and selecting the performers for MY JAM, doing media and PR, promotion, performing, providing the technological support for the festival.
Festival organiser, Nicola Thoner, said that all kinds of music styles, groups and soloists are welcome.
“There is a huge amount of talent in the region and MYJAM is seeking expressions of interest from local bands, vocalists and performers from across the Riverina who would like to perform at this hot new youth festival.
“We will be announcing our MY JAM headline act soon – so you never know who you could be sharing the stage with!”
Griffith Regional Theatre’s Manager Raina Savage says the event will show “thousands of young people in the arts ... can be really high adrenaline, exciting things.”

“It was an idea that I had not long after I got here - it just seemed a good idea.
“The impetus was probably hearing about JUMP FIRST, ASK LATER ... It was a show about self discovery, resilience, facing up to your challenges, friendship, family and having fun!”
“We also wanted to present some really exciting contemporary music that young people would like to go and see ...The festival just grew from there!”
“The big thing at the moment is for everyone to be out there promoting the festival to their friends and families.”
To pump up the festival atmosphere MYJAM is also seeking expressions of interest from local businesses and community organisations who would like to operate stalls at Neville Place during the festival.
Food and non-alcoholic drink vendors, art stall holders and community organisations wanting to reach the youth demographic are invited to apply.
“It will offer young people from the MIA the chance to experience the arts and to be the main game in the City's arts and cultural life … and hopefully many of them will continue that involvement whether that is music, painting, parkour, drama or stand up poetry, and going to see live shows or exhibitions,” Ms Savage said.
