“People think badmington is an easy laidback sport, but they give it a try and come off sweating and a few minutes.”
That’s the view of Justine Young, president of Griffith Badminton Club, who welcomes new members to their next competition starting on Wednesday.
”We play every Wednesday night during the school term. It is $60 for the comp. We play at West End Stadium. The committee will put new players into a team as teams are graded. We start at 6:30pm and are finished by 9pm at the latest. There are racquets to borrow at the stadium,” she said.
All genders and ages over 12 are welcome to join.
Badminton runs in the family for Justine, mum Daniela DeMartin has been a champion player for decades.
In the badminton grand final on the 28 June, Panthers defeated Lions 4-2 and Italy defeated China 4-2 in the doubles. Cameron Bates starred for Italy.
