The Griffith Branch of Riding for the Disabled (RDA) has received a welcome boost with a $500 donation from the Crop Science division of Bayer and Rawlinson and Brown from Griffith.

Riding for the Disabled’s Deb Longhurst was absolutely delighted by the donation, and says the money will help give this charity a much needed essentials for the children and volunteers.
“Obviously it means a great deal to us here at the riding for the disabled, because we are totally run by volunteers, and have been foing this for a round 30 years” Mrs Longhurst said.
“This funding means that our committee can concentrate on organising the centre here rather then spending a lot of time fundraising, which really takes the pressure off us a little bit.”
Bayer representative, Mark Norbiato and Ian Gregor from Rawlinson and Brown presented the cheque to a grateful Deb Longhurst, who was thrilled to receive the donation on behalf of the Centre.
“We badly needed new horses and ponies here, and we’ve had our eye on a couple for some time now” she said.
“We also hope to re-establish our driving program, which involves a horse and cart.”
“The cart we currently have is very outdated, so we now have the option of upgrading the existing one or buying a new one, as well as a pony to go with it.”
The RDA charity provides therapeutic riding instruction for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities around Griffith and Leeton.
This donation was given under the iGiveLocal Community Support Program, which is a joint initiative of Bayer CropScience and Combined Rural Traders (CRT).
Bayer have said further donations will continue, with plans to donate $50,000 to a variety of deserving local community groups across Australia throughout 2017.
