On Wednesday, 19-year-old Jaidyn Trounson pleaded guilty to “prolonged, sustain etc loss of traction” in Griffith local court for spinning his Holden Commodore ute in a circular motion on the corner of Overs Road and Watkins Ave, causing “a significant amount of smoke to be emitted from the rear of the vehicle”.
Trounson was also fined $400 of allowing a man in the passenger seat to hang his arm out the window while he was doing the burnout on Friday, March 10 2017.
The accused was caught because a witness filmed the incident and showed the footage to Griffith police. The witness observed the accused “do circular movements with the vehicle at the intersection for a constant period of approximately 30 seconds”.
When police asked Trounson if was him who did the burnout, he said “yea it was me”. He stated he believed the incident occurred on his work lunch break between 12pm and 1pm.
The police report stated “it is clear when viewing the footage the accused has a blatant disregard for other road users and the the road rules”. Police recommended the incident be dealt with at the “higher end of the scale”.
