Dressed in a wedding gown, the Sydney girl entered through the gates last year to drunken cries from blokes asking her to expose herself.
Discouraged, she dismissed the event as “full of ferals,” until she saw Christopher, a stunningly good looking boy standing in the back of a ute.
“I noticed his legs, he had those footballer legs,” Lauren said.
Those legs soon approached her.
“Are those velvet leggings? Can I touch them?” Christopher asked her.
“Go for it,” Lauren said, as she lifted her leg.
Another B&S Ball pick up line success.
“We manage to spend the rest of the day and night together. And apparently we got ‘married’,” Lauren said.
As Lauren was dressed in white, they staged a mock wedding together.
Bungendore-born Christopher Field-leal lived in Canberra, and Lauren said the two of them have traveled to see each other every weekend for the past year.
Lauren is planning to move to Canberra. Are real wedding bells ringing?
“I think so,” Lauren, now aged 24, said.
What advice does she have for singles hoping to find love this weekend?
“Don’t write anyone off until you actually talk to them”
“If someone offers you a cuddle, take it. You never know where it might lead.”
Lauren was referring to the story of Leanda Reeve and Sam Doyle, who are still together after meeting at the Hay B&S in 2014, when Sam asked Leanda to be her cuddle buddy.
The Area News also covered the story of Griffith boy Mitchell Hill and Goulburn girl Samantha Coggan, who met at the ball last year, and now have a baby together (see Page 3).
The Hay B&S Ball has steadily grown in popularity since its return in 2012 after a long 15-year hiatus.
Around 900 people attended in 2012, but this has steadily grown, with 1200 making the trip last year.
