Murray MP Adrian Piccoli announced on Wednesday the town was amongst three rural locations picked for SkillsPoints headquarters, which will be intersection points where TAFE will work with business and industry to develop curriculum and training to provide Australians with needed skills.
In development each of the proposed headquarters was strategically determined to support its own region’s economic growth and employment needs, with the Griffith hub to focus on agribusiness.
“Our new SkillsPoints will focus on developing curriculum and training for the booming agribusiness sector, and filling potential skills shortages in farm management, food trade and technical and trade areas such as wool classers, chemical plant operators and wood machinists,” Mr Piccoli said.
“The Griffith SkillsPoints will also bring our city between eight and 15 new jobs in order to meet the needs of local students and employers.” The rollout of the Griffith headquarters will be announced in the coming months.
