Black and Whites co-coach Craig Morriss is making sure his team is ready to go from the first whistle for Sunday’s Group 20 clash with Leeton.
A slow start ultimately cost the Black and Whites in round one against Darlington Point-Coleambally and Morriss was confident it wouldn’t happen again.
“We learnt a lot from that game, we took a fair bit on board and it was a good little wake up call,” Morriss said.
“Point were switched on, ready to go and we didn’t match them in the first 20.
“[This week] I think it’s all about being switched on from the kick off.”
Black and Whites met Leeton in the final of the Group 20 Knockout where the Griffith outfit won easily 26-0.
However, Morriss expected a much closer result this time around with players having returned for Leeton.
“They’ll be close to full strength [this time],” Morriss said.
“Week in, week out, everyone’s going to be in for a hammering. It looks like it will be a pretty tight season.”
The match will start around 3pm.
