Locals will be asked to join officers at Peeches Cafe in Griffith Central Plaza on Thursday at 10am to talk everything from town policing issues to the weather.
Law enforcement can often be a dangerous game, but it’s also taxing on time.
Inspector Nick Seddon from Griffith Police said the Coffee with a Cop idea is a chance for all units to devote time to better getting to know their community.
Not just to better understand Griffith’s major policing issues, but to get to know the people making up the city’s unique blend of residents.
“We’re hoping it gives people a chance to confide with police to help break down those barriers,” Inspector Seddon said.
“People have to deal with stressful situations, so we want to know them more on a personal and social level.”
The campaign was successfully introduced in the US and is now being rolled out throughout Australia.
