Mr McGann has looked back at old photos of Griffith and young recruits in the National Service and shared his memories.
“Long gone are the tennis courts, that’s where the visitors car park and the Coles servo and ambulance station now are,” Mr McGann pointed out.“A lot of people won’t even remember these courts but I played tennis there as a young fella.”
The demolished Murrumbidgee Irrigation workshop on the corner of Banna Avenue and Crossing Street was originally the WC and IC building and across the road was Griffith’s cannery. The photo was taken a short time after World War II, from a Tiger Moth aeroplane.
