As many residents returned to work this week, some may have been already dreaming of their next holiday or break.
Some may have been trying to stick to their New Year’s resolutions.
Usually, that is easier said than done.
They say it takes 21 days to form a habit, so if you’re one of the many millions across the country that has decided 2017 will be the year to lose weight, there’s no time like the present to form that routine.
Of course again, this is typically harder than one thinks.
For those that are lucky enough to have a full-time job and a family, it’s often difficult to find the time to exercise and even to eat healthy.
With children still on school holidays it can be quick and easy to whip out the old takeaway menu just to ensure dinner is on the table that night.
However, with fitness and weight loss such a big industry these days there are many ways to achieve this goal.
At this time of year there are many personal trainers and gyms offering great deals to encourage people to get fit and reach their goals.
Why not try one out and set the target of forming some routine over the next three weeks?
Of course wanting to lose weight is also a good opportunity to get into the kitchen and test out some new skills.
There’s many a different cook books that offer healthy recipes or even online.
Salads are big this time of year, as well as being quick and easy.
With the kids home, it could also be a good idea to get them involved in cooking so they too can form healthy habits.
It’s no secret Australia has an obesity crisis among both adults and children, so tackling the problem together could be the key.
Not to mention, many young adults these days often move out of home and have no idea how to cook a decent meal, so it’s time to start learning.
For those wanting to do something like kick the habit of smoking, there are also many tools available both at pharmacies and over the phone with health hotlines.
Taking the first step and, as mentioned, getting over that 21-day hump could see residents on the path to giving up for life.
There’s plenty to gain by giving up smoking that’s for sure.
