MIA District Rural Fire Service has responded to a number of out-of-control private burns leading to a stern reminder to permit holders about their responsibilities when lighting fires.
Last week firefighters responded to a fire near Beelbangera where a person was burning without a permit and a house came under threat.
Superintendent Kevin Adams said the house was able to be spared and reminds residents permits are required before lighting fires and permit holders must follow all rules and conditions .
Permit holders must notify their neighbours and the NSW RFS at least 24 hours before any planned burns.
Those conducting the burns must also remain in attendance at all times.
