Italy took on Brazil and after six games each team had won three games each with Brazil taking the win on a countback.
Jesse Carturan and Megan Piccoli – two of the games youngest members – fought hard all night and did their team proud.
In the other game, Australia took on France which also ended at 3-all.
In the most unlikely of scenarios both teams ended on equal points after a countback.
France went through as club rules stipulate the highest team on the ladder progresses to the grand final.
The singles competition had two clear-cut winners.
The Panthers beat the Cheetahs 6-0 and the Tigers defeated the Lions 5-1.
In the doubles grand final, France – with Brooke Gray, Karen Baratto, Ruben Sebastian and Libby Ridgway – took on Brazil’s team of Lidia Milani, Jan Kurtzman, Janice Callinan and Amanda Gulielmini.
It was another 3-all draw after six games and Brazil were victorious 111-101 on the countback.
In the singles final Panthers – Sarah Vecchio, James Gray and John Gallagher – and Tigers – Neil Mahaffey, Scott Gray and Matthew Gray – did battle.
Like the doubles, a countback was needed which Tigers won 114-111.
If anyone is interested in playing badminton, the new competition begins on Wednesday, October 12.
