The two teams will meet in the Group 20 leaguetag major semi-final with the winner to go straight through to the grand final.
So far this season, the ledger between the two sides sits at one apiece with Hay winning 22-4 the last time the sides met.
However, Hay co-coach Neil-John Nisbet said that result couldn’t be read into too much.
“They were lacking players the second time we played them,” Nisbet said.
“Speed is definitely their biggest threat, that’s how they beat us in the first game.
“They showed it against West Wyalong last week – they had too much speed and class.”
Hay also holds the mantle as the minor premier for 2016.
Nisbet said his players didn’t feel any extra pressure that sometimes comes with the minor premier tag.
“In any finals game, there’s pressure,” he said.
“Minor premiers or not, it doesn’t matter. We know we’re playing a Leeton side with plenty of speed and it’s something we have to counteract.”
Nisbet said the Magpies would have to be switched on in defence if they were to win.
However, the players had another hurdle to overcome before they even get on the field.
“The flu and some sort of virus has gone around – we had four missing at training last night,” Nisbet said.
Nisbet would call on his players to pull together to overcome the speed bump – something they had managed to do all year.
“Our greatest attribute has been our teamwork,” he said.
“Everybody does their job. That lets the key players do their thing and that’s how we score our tries.”
