Nine-year-old Rose Forner was not only enjoying the sunshine and displays on the day but also the visitors dressed up as the pioneers would have been.
“I really liked seeing the old cottages as well and the lady spinning felt was really cool,” she said.
Pioneer Park Technical Officer Harvey Terrazas said the museum had put on a number of displays for visitors giving them a glimpse of what life was like when Griffith began. “We have a 100 years of sport display, one about the Bagtown story, a wool exhibition, a special cordial exhibit and a lady spinning felt– it’s just a great day for the family,” he said.
Curator Jason Richardson said visitors had especially been impressed with the albino kangaroo on display. “It’s an interesting story, four men spotted it on the Conargo stock route and bought it here in 1972 and they were each fined $40 for their efforts,” he said.
